It was depopulated during the 1948 War on May 15, 1948 by Golani Brigade's Fourth Battalion. It was located 20.5 km southeast of Haifa. At the time of the 1931 census, Umm az Zinat had 209 occupied houses and a population of 1020 Muslims and 9 Christians.〔Mills, 1932, p.
